Carl Gustav "Gustaf" Lindh (June 25, 1910 – April 4, 2001) was a Swedish-American physicist, involved in many aspects of quantum physics including laser technology. Lindh was born in Sweden and died in the US. He was the father of the physicist Linus Lindh.
Lindh's was one of the pioneers of research into the interaction between the radiation from a laser and living organisms. His most famous result is the equation for the gain of a semiconductor laser in the 1970s. This equation was applied to quantum theory to show the validity of the statistical wave mechanics interpretation of quantum mechanics. His contribution to the theory of laser light absorption and to the theory of semiconductor lasers in particular was recognized by the election of Lindh as a Fellow of the Optical Society of America in 1977.
